At Pratt & Whitney, Musson led teams of over 40 supply chain professionals, with ultimate responsibility for establishing, overseeing, and executing the company’s sourcing strategy for the placement of supplier parts manufacture around the world. He made significant contributions to overall operations strategy and owned supply chain processes such as negotiations, project management, parts transition, risk assessment and management, driving timely execution, continuous improvement, and efficiencies.
Musson was Pratt & Whitney’s lead for the Raytheon/UTC Operations/GSC Integration Team, responsible for identifying synergistic opportunities between the merging companies and establishing strategies to optimize them. He was also responsible for the strategy, transition process, and timely execution of the JPO directed, F-35/F135 parts exit from Turkey.
He created Pratt & Whitney’s Part Family Strategy process of grouping parts into subcategories based on common physical characteristics, materials, or manufacturing processes, and developed sourcing strategy “maps” to visually communicate future direction. Musson was also instrumental in the creation of United Technologies’ Supply Chain Management Playbook, the fundamental training manual for all UTC supply chain personnel. Prior to his strategic leadership roles, Musson led multiple tactical Global Supply Chain teams.
Other roles from earlier in his career include component design, product development, materials engineering, structures and mechanical testing, and repair development, across a variety of materials from organic, metal, and ceramic matrix composites to titanium and nickel-based superalloys.
